Arctic Paper urges environmental awareness in its Munken design paper spring campaign

The Earth’s climate challenges have been a hot topic in the past year. Environmental commitment is a natural part of Arctic Paper’s operation, and at the end of 2006 all of the company’s Munken qualities were FSC certified*. Munken is a leading quality paper that enables creative print production with high design quality, without having to compromise on environmental friendliness. In this year’s spring campaign for Munken, designers are urged to take a proactive approach to environmental responsibility and to spread that message throughout the industry. Arctic Paper wants to promote environmental awareness and is offering designers the chance to apply for a grant in the shape of paper for environmental projects.

The possibilities of design are endless. By using an FSC-certified paper for different kinds of printed material, advertising agencies and designers can do their bit for the environment without detracting from their ideas and creativity.

Arctic Paper is now aiming to support environmentally conscious design projects by offering a paper grant from Munken. Any designers or advertising agencies who have an environmental project under way can visit the Arctic Paper website for further information and an application. Designers are also encouraged to spread the environmental message.

Arctic Paper has extensive environmental knowledge and has now taken a further step in this area. Since the end of 2006 the entire Munken range has been FSC certified. In addition to FSC the company works to continuously improve its water consumption, energy sourcing and use of chemicals.

“We’re very proud to be able to offer such a wide range of environmentally friendly uncoated design papers. In this campaign we are therefore encouraging designers to actively choose an environmentally friendly paper and to spread the environmental message among colleagues in the industry. Even minor changes in procedures and active choices can have long-term positive environmental consequences from a broader perspective,” says Hans Karlander, Marketing Director at Arctic Paper.

Arctic Paper’s Munken range is made at the Group’s mill in Munkedal, Sweden, where environmental efforts are well advanced. The mill made moves to improve the environment in the 1960s, and the company began actively working for a better environment in the 1980s. Because Arctic Paper Munkedals is located in an environmentally sensitive area, it places strict demands on its business partners.

Munken is a high quality uncoated fine paper which is made in an environmentally friendly production process and is particularly suitable for printed material such as brochures, books, catalogues and magazines. Munken is produced in white, natural white and cream and comes in various bulks and grammages offering a wide range of creative options. Munken’s extensive assortment contains most design and book paper qualities.
