Paul Barry Design and Orchid Print select a traditional Arctic paper choice for Purdey & Sons latest brochure

The shooting life has long been a tradition in England and for James Purdey & Sons, perfecting the art of the ‘Best’ London gun, has been a belief since 1814. Quality is paramount to Purdey & Sons in everything they do, from their wide range of bespoke shot guns and rifles, to its British designed and manufactured quality clothing and accessory range; all fit for any gentleman or lady participating in a day of shooting.

When Purdey commissioned its latest company brochure quality was paramount to convey its bespoke and exclusive range of products.  Paul Barry Design based in London, was appointed to create an outstanding piece of design and print with paper an essential consideration to the overall success of the brochure.

Chiara Mestre at Paul Barry Design explains the rationale behind the project, which included a brochure and folder (with A4 inserts and pocket for a DVD):

“We wanted to portray the excellence and tailored nature of Purdey. The brochure depicts the story of a shoot day in a series of exquisite images shot by John Balsom accompanied by minimal diary-style captions.

For the project we selected a mix of Munken Polar and Munken Polar Rough from Arctic Paper UK, in various grammages. We chose the Munken Rough for its earthy texture and elegant feel, its honest, natural and real touch. The images were brought to life with the Munken paper, and are so close to nature you can almost smell the woodlands or touch the heather”.

PURDEY BROCHURE – a mixture of text with full colour photographs was printed by London Based printer ORCHID PRINT. The Brochure Spec – 38pp, 4 colours throughout, with a black foil logo and embossed front and back cover. The brochure was perfect bound.

Rob Slowe, Managing Director for Arctic Paper UK said “Munken is one of the most significant and established papers available on the market today.  Munken Rough was the ideal paper for this exquisite brochure. Its rough white surface proved ideal platform to portray the outdoor, natural images. Furthermore, Munken is FSC certified and produced without compromise to water usage, thus helping to ensure that environmental objectives were met during the production of this brochure.”
