TOP TENNIS SELECTS MUNKEN PAPER FOR ITS ‘ATP No. 1’

The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) has published a special, commemorative coffee table book, celebrating 40 years of the Emirates ATP rankings. This book honours those few who have achieved year end No 1 status. Printed onto Munken Polar 170 and 400 gsm, produced by Arctic Paper, this unique book features legendary tennis players both past and present.

Launched at Wimbledon, this unique celebratory book, entitled ‘No. 1’, has exclusive interviews as well as never-seen-before photography.  With players from Ilie Nastase in 1973, through to fellow year-end No. 1s Jimmy Connors, Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe, Ivan Lendl, Mats Wilander, Stefan Edberg, Jim Courier, Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Lleyton Hewitt, Andy Roddick, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.  This book provides fans a unique insight into the emotions and mind-set of the world’s greatest players.

The book was designed and created by London Design Agency, Junction Design.
Victoria McLoughlin, Director at Junction, explained why the paper choice was critical for the success of this exclusive edition:

“Our choice of paper was paramount if we were to create a beautiful keepsake, that presented archive photography and player portraits in their very best light.

Arctic Paper’s Munken Polar was our first choice - an uncoated stock with a very smooth surface that complements photography beautifully. We particularly liked the softer, more natural skin tones that it produces. We were using a lot of dark imagery and text throughout the book as well as pantone silver. The crisp white shade of Munken Polar also provided us with a perfect surface for the silver foiled ‘badge’.”

Book Specifications  - ATP No. 1 is a 290 x 290 mm softback book. The Cover is printed in 4 colours on 400 gsm Munken Polar with a silver foiled No. 1 'badge' applied. Internal pages are printed 5 colours (including silver) on 170gsm Munken Polar. The book has 104 pages and is presented in a matt black sleeve with silver foiled badge.

Rob Slowe, Managing Director for Arctic Paper UK said “Munken is one of the most significant and established papers available on the market today.  Munken is the ideal platform for all types of printed literature and its smooth white surface proved ideal for this prestigious work. Furthermore, Munken is FSC certified and produced without compromise to water usage, thus helping to ensure that ATP’s environmental objectives were met during the production of this brochure.”
