The Nordic Fashion Biennale (NFB) is a dynamic platform to promote West Nordic fashion design. It is an arena that brings together designers, artists, academics, business entrepreneurs and specialists in the field of fashion. This year’s Nordic Fashion Biennale offers an inspiring and aesthetic exhibit, entitled The Weather Diaries, uniting the works of many of the most talented designers from the West Nordic Islands.

The curators behind this 3rd NFB are the American-Austrian artists Cooper & Gorfer, based in Sweden. Known for their strong narrative imagery with references to culture and fashion, they have been commissioned to create a photographic exhibition interpreting fashion from Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands. Over the past two years, Cooper & Gorfer have worked with the art and fashion scene in the West Nordic Islands. The outcome is an alluring exhibition and a beautiful book.

The NORDIC FASHION BIENNALE 2014 exhibition will be open at the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt, from March 22nd – June 22nd 2014. The exhibition shows 11 one of a kind installations from the selected designers: Mundi (IS), STEiNUNN (IS), JÖR by Guðmundur Jörundsson (IS), Kría (IS), Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir a.k.a. Shoplifter (IS), Guðrun & Guðrun (FO), Barbara I Gongini (FO), Rammatik (FO), Bibi Chemnitz (GL), Najannguaq Lennert (GL), Nikolaj Kristensen (GL), and Jessie Kleemann (GL), alongside large scale photographic art works by Cooper & Gorfer.

THE WEATHER DIARIES is printed on three different Nordic paper grades produced by Arctic Paper Munkedals and Arctic Paper Grycksbo mills, both situated in Sweden.

Sarah and Nina at Cooper & Gorfer stated:
“We are very satisfied with the final printed result of the book. The book contains three different papers; Arctic Silk+, Arctic Volume White and Munken Pure, from Arctic Paper.
The idea behind the choice of three different papers is to have a wide range of feeling and impression from the paper structures and at the same time give photos and text the best possible support to be at their best. We hope you will be as impressed as us when looking through the book! ”
