Munken for ARK: Words and Images from the Royal College of Art Magazine 1950-1978

Students studying on the Critical Writing in Art and Design MA programme at the Royal College of Art have published an anthology of the RCAs magazine ARK, including original material from the magazines published between 1950 and 1978.

The book includes all the covers of ARK in colour together an index of the magazine’s contents from the fifty-four issues published, giving a fantastic overview of how attitudes and approaches to art and design have changed in Britain over nearly 3 decades.

Designed by Jorg Schwertfeger (  and printed by PUSH on Munken Print Cream, the cover is on a 300g, the text on a 115g.

Jorg explains his rationale behind choosing Munken Print Cream for this project: “The biggest challenge was to present visually what this anthology is: a series of objects pulled straight from the archive and reassessed from a contemporary perspective. Printing on Munken Print Cream with its haptic texture, high volume and nice warm shade, helped to achieve exactly that.”
